I’m currently working with a handful of brands that I align with philosophically and stylistically on a monthly, quarterly, whenever-they-need-me basis for content creation, style stories, copy, and photography. Feel free to get in touch with me to learn more or to request a media kit.
How do you handle sponsored content?
Sponsored content is handled on a project-by-project basis. I really, sincerely enjoy working with different brands that I align with, and if it's not something I would genuinely use, eat, wear, etc., then you won't see it here. While this space is intentionally ad-free and I've kept my distance from sponsored content, now that I've figured out how to approach it without sacrificing any principles, I don't have the attitude that it's detrimental. Rather, it helps me stay creatively challenged and allows me to encourage the support of brands and initiatives that make the world a better place. That said, I will not participate in any type of multi-level marketing.
Are you open to guest posts?
Yes. I sincerely enjoy true collaboration with like-minded creatives, though I’m not currently accepting guest posts while I focus on a new project. Stay tuned!
Do you do this full-time?
No - I’m a full-time university administrator and part-time personal stylist. Cedar + Surf is a creative outlet and portfolio-in-the-making as I contemplate a career transition. This means that I feel no pressure to monetize it or promote products or services that I’m not confident about. This also means that I only take on one (or two) projects at a time so that I can devote the time and energy to them that they deserve.
What is your background?
My undergraduate degree is in biology (biomedical research + stats) and I have a master’s degree in higher education administration. If my writing tends to drift a bit into the technical space, that’s why. I’m working on being less “thesis” and more “conversational” as my wise editor friends consistently recommend.
